Make your Smoothies Super!! 🏋🏻♀️
For all you regular smoothie makers out there – make your smoothies super!
If you are a regular smoothie maker you may already know about super foods which, when added to your daily drinks, can make them more nutritious and give your body its daily dose of vitamins to make you feel super human!
So what are these super ingredients and what is it that makes them, well… super?
Simply put, ‘super’ foods are natural ingredients that provide an unique combination of nutrients with far reaching health benefits. In this article, we focus on a few select ingredients you can throw in your Mixeaze portable blender to feed your body with all it needs.
1. Berries 🍓
Berries are a staple smoothie ingredient for their delicious and sweet flavour, but they’re also rich in vitamins and antioxidants that will reduce the risk of heart disease and cancer, as well as boosting our immune system.
You might like to combine blueberries, strawberries and raspberries together for a sweet fruity taste, or use just one as a base to go with other flavours. We have some great recipe ideas over on our Instagram and love hearing the combinations you enjoy too!
2. Chia Seeds 😮
Fun fact, the Incas in Peru snacked on chia seeds on their epic marches through the Andes! This is because of their energy boosting potential. These tiny little seeds are rich in fibre, protein, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, which help prevent heart diseases.
Whether you use Black Chia seeds or White Chia seeds, there is no nutritional difference, although having tried both, the white seeds blend more easily into a smoothie.
3. Ginger 🧡
By definition, ginger is a vegetable! It comes from the root of a flowering plant from China and as well as providing a rich culinary flavour, it has a range of medicinal uses and effects.
For some palates, the flavour can be strong and spicy, so if it’s not for you, give us one more chance to convince you…
Ginger, like chia, contains energy boosting properties so you can start each day better. Even just a small amount, blended up in your Mixeaze smoothie maker with some mango and kale will boost your daily mood and energy. Trust us!
4. Oats 💪🏻
Oats are not just for porridge. They are rich in minerals and can be a smart carbohydrate in your diet. They are one of the richest sources of a particular fibre called beta glucan, which can help to manage cholesterol and therefore lower risk of heart attacks and other pressures on our vital organs.
A cup or two of oats in your smoothie maker blends into a delicious, creamy texture for first thing in the morning or after your workout.
5. Greek Yogurt 💯
Sometimes Greek yoghurt can be a little sour on its own, which tempts us towards sweeter alternatives. But these often have added sugars which undermine the high protein value we get from the natural goodness of Greek yoghurt.
Alongside its rich protein content, Greek yogurt helps boost out metabolism, aids our muscle growth and strengthens our bones. If you’re still unconvinced, try adding a few spoons to your smoothie, with a touch of honey and some fresh berries. Hey, why not even throw in some oats and combine all of the super foods on our list.
